Apple has officially rolled out full Urdu language support with the launch of iOS 26, allowing users in Pakistan to set their iPhones and iPads to Urdu as the primary system language.

The Urdu localization feature first appeared in iOS 18.4 Beta 3 earlier this year, giving developers and testers early access. With the release of iOS 26, Apple has made the Urdu interface available to all users across compatible devices.

The update allows users to navigate the entire iOS interface in Urdu. This includes system menus, settings, notifications, and Apple’s built-in apps. The option is now listed under the “iPhone Language” settings menu and can be enabled through the device’s language settings.

With over 125 million Urdu speakers in Pakistan, the addition of full Urdu support offers increased accessibility for a wide segment of the population. It is particularly helpful for users who are more comfortable using smartphones in their native language, including first-time users and the elderly.

How to Enable Urdu on iOS 26

To switch to the Urdu interface, users can follow these steps:

Settings → General → Language & Region → iPhone Language → Urdu

The device will restart to apply the changes.

While the interface now supports Urdu text, features such as Siri voice commands, voice dictation, and some third-party applications still lack Urdu language integration. Apple has not yet confirmed when or if these features will receive full Urdu support.
