The Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has filed an intra-court appeal challenging the Islamabad High Court’s decision[1] to remove him from office.

The appeal has been submitted under the Intra-Court Ordinance of 1972. The appellant is the current chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

He was first appointed as Member (Administration) of PTA on May 24, 2023, and the very next day, on May 25, 2023, he was elevated to the position of Chairman.

PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez ur Rehman has been performing his duties in accordance with the rules and regulations. The appeal has been filed to establish the legality of his appointment.

Earlier today, Justice Babar Sattar of the Islamabad High Court announced a reserved verdict, ordering the removal of the PTA chairman from his post.
