In the final days of summer, a popular influencer took to TikTok[1] with an eerie and emotional video. This would be the last glimpse her followers would get of her before her tragic and mysterious death.

Marian Izaguirre offered her 4.1 million followers regular glimpses into her seemingly glamorous life, sharing everything from fun dance trends to humorous skits. Her most recent videos show Marian, full name Flor Marian Izaguirre Pineda, wearing clown make-up,[2] with the final clip showing an even more elaborate look.

Here, the 23-year-old’s face is concealed behind a painted white mask, with splashes of violet, red and pink. Her eyes are ringed with glittering rhinestone stickers and tiny heart details. Although her features are obscured by the makeup, Marian appears to be in a melancholy mood here, with her wet eyes spilling over with tears.

In the clip, content creator[3] Marian can be seen lip-syncing along to the poignant track Porque Te Vas by English-born Spanish singer-songwriter Jeanette, which tells the story of an abandoned lover left heartsick over how things could have been.

Lyrics, when translated to English, include: “Today in my window the sun is shining. And my heart is sad as it watches the city. Because you’re leaving. Like every morning I wake up. Thinking of you And in my clock I watched all the hours passing by. Because you’re leaving.”

In the caption of her cryptic post, Marian made reference to the chorus, writing: “All the promises of my love will go with you. Why are you leaving?” It’s unclear at the time of writing whether this post was created for theatrical effect, or whether it reflected genuine difficulties Marian had been experiencing in her own life.

On September 12, a couple of short weeks later, Marian was pronounced dead in a hospital in Morelia, Mexico, having suffered an undisclosed injury that left her brain-dead, local outlet El Financiero[5] reports.

The prosecutor’s office told the publication how, on September 6, Marian had been discovered by police at a Morelia hotel, where she’d been staying for several days. Authorities stated: “She was treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital”.

Marian’s family had filed a missing persons[6] report after the young woman vanished, with authorities then issuing an Alba Alert – Mexico’s emergency protocol for tracking down missing women.

The hotel where Marian was eventually found was more than 80 miles away from the city of Uruapan, where she was last seen at approximately 6 pm on September 1.

An investigation into Marian’s disappearance remains ongoing, according to police, while no further details concerning her death have been available at this time.

Meanwhile, Marian’s many followers have been left shocked and saddened by the news, paying tribute to the content creator beneath her final video, which makes for haunting viewing in retrospect.

Sharing his memories of Marian, comedian Marcelo Alcázar commented: “Rest in peace, Flor. In the short time I knew you, you were a wonderful girl, with a smile that never went away. Thank you for being one of the first people to welcome me when I left for Mexico. You’re an angel, and you always were.”

Another shared: “Rest in peace, Flor Izaguirre. You went like an angel to heaven. You are now with our Lord God. We love you very much. I never thought this would happen to the one who made me laugh. We will miss you very much. Rest in peace”

The Mirror[7] has reached out to the Michoacán attorney general’s office for additional comment.
