The Pasco County Tax Collector’s offices raised $7,500 in July for the Pasco Schools’ ABC Program, which provides financial assistance to students and families experiencing economic hardship.

The funds were part of the Tax Collector’s Charity of the Month program, a pillar of the agency’s Pasco TC Gives initiative[1].

The ABC Program, which stands for “Assist, Believe & Care,” emphasizes financial help for families whose needs interfere with a student’s ability to be academically successful.

The Tax Collector’s Office has so far raised more than $40,000 for the ABC Program.

“These uncertain economic times can provide extra stress upon families who have been dealing with challenges caused by last year’s storm season, health issues and other financial and personal challenges,” Tax Collector Mike Fasano said.

“Thanks to the ABC Program, funds are designated to students and their families who are experiencing hardship or crisis. Funds that were collected were distributed to the five schools most in need of assistance.”

Five schools — Anclote Elementary in Holiday; Richey Elementary in New Port Richey; Connerton Elementary in Land O’ Lakes; Quail Hollow Elementary in Wesley Chapel; and Rodney B. Cox Elementary in Dade City — are receiving $1,500 each for their respective ABC Programs.

“A heartfelt thank you to Mike Fasano, Pasco County Tax Collector, for his generous support of local students and families,” Pasco Schools Communications Director Jessica Meek said.

“In July, his office proudly sponsored a donation drive benefiting the Pasco County School District’s ABC Program, which provides vital financial assistance to students facing economic hardship. Thanks to this initiative, five schools received much needed support.”

To date, the program has supplied Pasco County schools with 500 backpacks filled with school supplies; provided holiday meals to more than 600 families; donated more than $22,000 to the Humane Society of Pasco; contributed more than $35,000 to the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation; donated more than $31,000 to Lauren’s Kids; and added thousands more in donations to local, regional and statewide nonprofits.

Fasano’s Office is currently raising funds[2] for the Gulf Coast JFC’s “Heart Gallery,” which supports children in the foster care system as they search for their forever families through every step of the critical process.
