Republicans aren’t ruling out the Florida Men.
New polling suggests that while Marco Rubio and Ron DeSantis may not be most people’s first choices for the Republican presidential nomination, at least they are being considered.
While the Secretary of State has just 4% support and the Governor 8% as “ideal candidates” in the latest YouGov survey, the numbers are better when respondents are asked if they would consider the Florida men as nominees.[1]
Rubio is up to 33% when that question is posed.
And DeSantis is even better positioned, with 40%.
Vice President JD Vance is the runaway winner on both metrics.
65% would consider the Ohioan, with 44% regarding him as ideal.
But DeSantis is competitive with First Son Donald Trump Jr. at least.
While 10% see him as ideal, just 37% would consider him.
Remarkably, there is very little trend change from the April iteration of the poll for the Florida men, though Rubio was considered by 35% then.
The survey was conducted between Sept. 5 and 8.
