In a significant change praised by its player community, Epic Games has announced a new “Exact Amount” feature for V-Bucks purchases in Fortnite, scheduled to go live on October 14, 2025.

This update will allow players to buy only the precise amount of in-game currency they need for a cosmetic item. Which eliminates the need to purchase larger, preset bundles and potentially saving money. The feature will also be implemented in Rocket League and Fall Guys.

This update directly addresses a long-running player frustration where purchasing a specific skin or item often meant buying more V-Bucks than necessary. For example, if a player with 400 V-Bucks wanted a 500 V-Buck item, they would be able to purchase just the required 100 V-Bucks instead of a full, larger bundle. Top-ups will be available in 50 V-Buck increments for Fortnite and Rocket League, and 100 V-Buck increments for Fall Guys.

To prepare for the rollout, Epic Games will round up existing V-Bucks and Rocket League Credit balances to the nearest 50 on October 10. Fall Guys will round all balances to the nearest 100 on the same date.

Most platforms, including Android, iPhone/iPad, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Xbox, will support the new feature.

However, the “Exact Amount” option will not be available on PlayStation consoles at launch. Epic Games has stated it is working to bring the functionality to all platforms and that PlayStation users can utilize the web-based Item Shop in the interim.

While the change offers improved convenience, players should be aware that buying V-Bucks in smaller, exact increments may be less cost-effective per unit than purchasing larger, discounted bundles. As a result, bulk purchases might remain the more economical option for regular, high-spending players, while casual users will benefit most from avoiding forced overspending.

The move follows a $245 million settlement with the FTC over allegations of using “dark patterns” to encourage unwanted purchases.
