Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has said he believes Chelsea are the favourites to win the Premier League this season.
Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, the former Nigerian international said he sees Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal as the main title challengers.
Mikel praised Chelsea’s playing style and said they are currently the best team in the league when it comes to playing out from the back.
“I think it’s between Liverpool and Chelsea. We have a good chance of winning it,” Mikel said.
“If you look at which team can beat Liverpool right now, I’d say Chelsea. The way we play — we’re the best team at building from the back.”
He also praised Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, for changing the team’s style and improving their mentality.
Mikel added that Arsenal will always be in the race, especially now that they have a stronger squad, which gives manager Mikel Arteta no excuses.
At the moment, Liverpool are top of the Premier League table after three matches, with Chelsea in second place.
