David Coote, a former Premier League referee, has been charged with making an indecent video of a child.

The 43-year-old is expected to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

According to Metro UK, the charge relates to creating or having abusive photos or videos of a child, which can include downloading, sharing, or saving such content.

The case comes from a video found by Nottinghamshire Police during an investigation in February.

Coote was officially charged in August and is currently out on conditional bail.

He was removed from his role by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) in December 2024, after an old video surfaced showing him making abusive comments about ex-Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp back in 2020.
