What to expect
As you’d expect from the company, it’s not sharing any other details beyond the initial announcement. The September Nintendo Direct has been rumored for a while now, as not only have several leakers suggested that it was on the way[2], but the company also has a long tradition of using this month to have a big–and informative–look at all of its upcoming games.
This month also marks the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros., and to add even more fuel to the fire, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has been rated in several countries, suggesting that a release date for the long-in-development game could finally be revealed. In addition to Metroid, Nintendo also has Pokemon Legends: Z-A and Kirby Air Riders due for release this year.
What else could be on the horizon? A port of Red Dead Redemption 2 for the Switch 2 has been rumored, and several other studios are working on games for the new console.
