The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a cut in electricity prices by Rs1.79 per unit for July under the monthly Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA).
According to the notification issued by NEPRA, the reduction in electricity prices will apply to all DISCOs and K-Electric customers, except Lifeline, prepaid consumers, and electric vehicle charging stations. The relief will be reflected in consumer bills for September.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had earlier suggested a reduction of Rs1.69 per unit for July’s adjustment. However, NEPRA approved a slightly higher relief of Rs1.79 per unit.
This reduction in fuel cost adjustment will provide financial relief worth around Rs24.5 billion to consumers across the country. The move is expected to ease the burden of rising electricity costs and bring temporary respite to households and businesses.
