The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has approved the acquisition of Heavy Electrical Complex (HEC) shares by DW Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd from IMS Engineering (Pvt) Ltd through a share purchase agreement.
According to details, DW Pakistan is a conglomerate that focuses on investments and acquisitions across diverse sectors. The company is not currently engaged in the manufacturing, engineering, or energy industries.
Heavy Electrical Complex, on the other hand, plays an essential role in Pakistan’s energy sector. It manufactures and repairs power transformers, including large-capacity units that support the country’s power transmission and distribution networks.
The seller, IMS Engineering, provides engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and commissioning services across a variety of industrial and energy projects.
The CCP clarified that the Heavy Electrical Complex acquisition will not affect competition in the market, as DW Pakistan does not operate in the relevant sectors. The approval marks a significant development in restructuring ownership within Pakistan’s heavy electrical industry.
