
A meeting of the Spectrum Advisory Committee was held today at the Finance Division, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. The session brought together key stakeholders to discuss advancing Pakistan’s digital transformation through an effective spectrum policy.
Participants from the telecom industry and GSMA shared valuable insights on leveraging spectrum to drive the growth of IT and telecom services, boost exports, create jobs, and promote wider digital adoption across the country.
Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb welcomed the contributions of industry experts and GSMA, emphasizing the importance of adopting global best practices for Pakistan’s spectrum roadmap. He highlighted the need for timely progress on spectrum allocation to seize emerging opportunities for the country’s economy and society.
Federal Ministers Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering a digitally connected Pakistan. They stressed the importance of ensuring inclusive, affordable, and high-quality connectivity to enable the country’s digital transformation.
The meeting underscored the critical role of spectrum policy in shaping Pakistan’s digital future, with a focus on innovation, economic growth, and societal benefits.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Information Technology & Telecommunication Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Mr. Julian Gorman, Head of Asia Pacific at GSMA, senior officials from relevant ministries and regulators, and representatives of leading mobile operators.
