The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of journalist and football commentator, Erenayo Dorcas Koki, as the new Media Officer of the U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos.
Koki, who works with NigeriaInfo FM in Port Harcourt, brings years of experience in covering both local and international sporting events. She is widely known for her bold storytelling, engaging analysis, and strong advocacy for women’s sports, particularly women’s football.
She replaces Monsurah Olatunji, who served as the team’s Media Officer at last year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic. Before Olatunji, the role was held by Faith Meremegbunam.
Speaking about her new role, Koki said she is committed to increasing the visibility of the Flamingos, who won bronze at the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
“I will work with the NFF Communications Department to amplify the voices of the players and coaches, and to ensure the team’s journey is shared with stakeholders across Nigeria and beyond. My vision is to make the Flamingos a household name, not only during tournaments but all year round. We will tell their stories in ways that inspire pride, build fan connection, and position the team as the future of Nigerian football, using fresh digital content, stronger media engagement, and authentic storytelling,” she said.
The Flamingos will resume camp on Sunday as preparations begin for this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, scheduled to take place from 17 October to 8 November
