Heavy rains and floods have disrupted telecommunications across the country, with 4,349 telecom sites reported affected. According to sources in the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), services at 4,137 of these sites have already been restored. Restoration work on the remaining 212 sites is currently underway.

All 212 sites still out of service are located in Punjab, where waterlogging has created challenges for restoration efforts. The flooding has caused power outages and technical issues in the power supply to the telecom infrastructure, slowing down the recovery process.

According to the sources, PTA, in coordination with telecom companies, is actively working to restore the affected sites. The authority has assured that efforts are being made round-the-clock to ensure the stability of mobile and internet services for users in impacted regions.

The situation is being closely monitored through the National Emergency Telecommunication Coordination Center. The center is coordinating with relevant stakeholders to address the power supply issues and expedite restoration efforts in the affected areas.

According to the sources, as soon as the water recedes, the remaining sites will also be restored. The authority and telecom operators reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring uninterrupted mobile and internet connectivity during the ongoing emergency.
