Sevilla FC have confirmed that Kelechi Iheanacho’s contract has been ended by mutual agreement, officially bringing his time at the club to a close.

The news was announced on transfer deadline day (1 September), meaning the 28-year-old Nigerian striker is now a free agent and can join a new club even though the transfer window is closed.

Sevilla’s Statement

Sevilla shared the update with a short message:

“An agreement has been reached with Kelechi Iheanacho to rescind his contract.

Best of luck for the future, Senior Man ”

A Difficult Time in Spain

Iheanacho signed for Sevilla in July 2024 after leaving Leicester City, but things didn’t go as planned. He played just nine games for the Spanish club without scoring a goal.

He was later loaned to Middlesbrough in the English Championship, where he managed only one goal in 15 matches.

His season was also affected by injuries, including a muscle strain, which limited his playing time.

A Big Name Back on the Market

Before moving to Spain, Iheanacho had a strong career in England, where he played for Manchester City and Leicester City. He was part of the Leicester squad that won the FA Cup in 2021 and also won the Community Shield.

In the Premier League, he scored 42 goals and made 27 assists, earning a reputation as a reliable player in big games.

What’s Next?

Now free to choose his next club, Iheanacho is one of the most high-profile free agents available.

According to Transfermarkt, his market value is €4.5 million, and there is already interest from teams in the Turkish Süper Lig and the Saudi Pro League, with several clubs watching his situation closely.

Iheanacho is now hoping for a fresh start and a chance to revive his career elsewhere.
