Ademola Lookman will remain at Atalanta for at least one more season, as the summer transfer window has now closed without a move being completed.
Wanted a Move, But None Happened
The 27-year-old Nigerian forward was keen to leave Bergamo this summer and had his eyes set on a transfer to Inter Milan. Inter made three offers, but Atalanta rejected all of them, making it clear they had no intention of selling to another Italian club.
Frustrated by the situation, Lookman stopped training with the team and skipped several pre-season matches, trying to force a move.
Bayern Munich Also Rejected
In the final hours of the window, Bayern Munich submitted a loan bid with an option to buy, but Atalanta turned it down, insisting they would only sell permanently and for no less than €50 million.
Tottenham Watched, But Didn’t Act
Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly keeping an eye on Lookman’s situation, but did not make a formal offer before the window closed.
What Next for Lookman?
With no deal agreed, Lookman is now expected to stay at Atalanta for the 2025/26 season. He is still under contract until summer 2027, meaning he could remain in Bergamo for a few more years unless a club meets Atalanta’s asking price in the future.
Lookman was named CAF Player of the Year for 2024 and remains an important player for both Atalanta and the Super Eagles — even if his future at club level is currently uncertain.
