Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has officially joined Werder Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen. The deal was completed on Monday, 1 September 2025, the final day of the German summer transfer window.
Werder sporting director Peter Niemeyer confirmed that the move is a season-long loan without an option to buy. Talks between the two Bundesliga clubs moved quickly to ensure Boniface could be registered before the window closed.
“We are delighted to have secured Victor on loan. He has already shown his qualities in the Bundesliga, and we believe he can continue to grow with us,” said Niemeyer.
More playing time for Boniface
The 24-year-old forward struggled to get regular starts at Bayer Leverkusen due to strong competition in the squad. At Bremen, he is expected to get more minutes on the pitch and provide an attacking boost.
Werder hope Boniface’s proven finishing and Bundesliga experience will help strengthen their frontline and add more threat in attack.
