- Samsung is rumored to be planning a third Unpacked event this year at which it’ll launch three new devices
- As well as its highly anticipated Galaxy tri-fold smartphone, we could also see a new pair of AI glasses and the company’s first XR headset
- The event is rumored to being taking place on September 29 in South Korea, but Samsung has yet to confirm anything
Samsung[1] is gearing up for another phone and tablet launch event[2] on September 4, but the company is also tipped to announce three exclusive devices at the end of the month at another Unpacked event in South Korea for September 29.
The event would be Samsung[3]’s third Unpacked event this year, and according to SamMobile[4] the company will announce its long-awaited tri-folding Galaxy phone, an XR headset, and AI glasses.
Samsung teased the Galaxy tri-fold during the Galaxy S25[5] launch in January, but didn’t reveal much about the device. Most of what we have to go on so far is based on leaks and rumors, including an animation[6] shared in a recent post on X by a leaker that shows its possible design (see below).
The same post hints that Samsung’s next foldable could pack a triple-lens rear camera array similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7[7]’s, something which SamMobile also highlighted. The Galaxy tri-fold is also tipped to have a 6.5-inch cover screen, as well as an almost 10-inch main screen when the device is unfolded.
Upping the ante on AI hardware
As for Samsung’s rumored AI glasses (reportedly developed under the codename Project Haean), they’re set to include an onboard camera, speakers, and a microphone. Back in May, we had a brief hands-on session with Samsung’s prototype XR glasses[8], and the finished product is likely to offer stiff competition for Meta’s Ray Ban smart glasses[9].
We’ve been following the progress of Samsung’s first Android XR headset[10] (nicknamed Project Moohan) since it was announced in December last year, and it’s shaping up to be a serious competitor to the Apple Vision Pro[11]. However, when it comes to sale dates, it’s still a little up in the air.
While Samsung has yet to confirm a release date for the headset, SamMobile claims the company is targeting October 13. The outlet also says that if this is the case the Galaxy tri-fold smartphone could go on sale shortly after, but we might have to wait a little longer for its smart glasses to drop, with SamMobile predicting that those will go on sale just before the end of the year – it’s also been rumored that they may only launch in South Korea initially before getting a wider rollout.
