Pakistan has slipped four positions in the list of the world’s most peaceful countries, ranking 144th out of 163 nations in the 2025 Global Peace Index. This places the country among the world’s 20 least peaceful nations.
The annual index, compiled by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), evaluates countries based on security, safety, ongoing conflicts, and other key indicators.
According to the latest report, Pakistan’s position declined from last year, while regional and global comparisons revealed mixed performances:
- United Arab Emirates ranked 52nd,
- Saudi Arabia 90th,
- Sri Lanka 97th,
- China 98th,
- India 115th,
- Bangladesh 123rd,
- United States 128th.
In Asia, Singapore was declared the most peaceful country, retaining its 6th place globally from last year. Other top-ranked nations included Portugal (7th), Denmark (8th), Slovenia (9th), and Finland (10th).
At the bottom of the index, Russia was ranked the least peaceful country at 163rd, followed by Ukraine (162), Sudan (161), Democratic Republic of Congo (160), Yemen (159), and Afghanistan (158).
Meanwhile, Israel was placed at 155th, putting it among the world’s ten least peaceful nations.
