Nitha “Jeannie” Hunt, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 29, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on August 13, 1952, in Fort Smith to Theron Bynum and Dorothy (Wagoner) Fowler.

Jeannie worked for many years at Whirlpool, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. Away from work, she loved life’s simple pleasures—playing pool, heading to the casino for a bit of fun, and, most importantly, making memories with her grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life.

To know Jeannie was to know laughter, kindness, and a little stubborn streak that made her all the more unforgettable. She was the kind of woman who brought energy into every room, offered love without conditions, and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to her family.

Jeannie is survived by her three children, Sherry Taylor and husband James; Shannon Garner and husband Wesley; and Michael Jackson and wife Paige; nine grandchildren, Brandon (whom she thought of as a son) and wife Cara, Amber, Gerry, Zoey, Brett, Makayla, Addison, Carter, and Oakley; seven great-grandchildren, Abby, Abigail, Brantley, Levi, Lexi, Jasper, and Colson; and three sisters, Donna, Sue, and Teresa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theron Bynum and Dorothy Fowler; her husband, Jack Hunt; and seven siblings.

A memorial service celebrating Jeannie’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Lewis Funeral Chapel, 4817 Kelley Hwy, Fort Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Kingdom Church in Jeannie’s memory.
