English Premier League side Nottingham Forest have confirmed that they have ended their contract with Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis by mutual agreement.
Dennis joined Forest from Watford in 2022 after an impressive 2021/22 season where he scored ten goals and provided six assists. At the time, he was one of the most sought-after players for clubs in the lower half of the Premier League table.
However, things did not go as planned for the forward at the City Ground. He managed only 19 appearances in his first season and later went out on loan to Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir. That move was not successful, and he later returned to Watford on another loan.
Last season, Dennis was loaned to Championship side Blackburn Rovers, but his performances did not convince the club to sign him permanently.
The 27-year-old returned to Nottingham Forest at the end of the campaign but was not included in pre-season and has not been part of the squad this season. With no offers coming in for him, Forest and Dennis’ representatives held talks and agreed to part ways.
This means Dennis is now a free agent and can join any club at any time. Reports suggest that clubs in Italy have shown interest in him, and a move there could be on the cards.
Dennis, who made his Super Eagles debut in 2019, has eight caps for Nigeria but has not featured for the national team since November 2022.
