A British start-up selling speakers for children which is backed by Sir Paul McCartney nearly doubled sales last year.
Yoto, which produces screen-free devices so children can listen to audiobooks and music, is expecting to be in the black for the first time this year.
Famous investors include the Roald Dahl family and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, the investment fund of Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, and Sir Paul.
The success of the London business comes amid growing fears over the influence of social media.
Sales of its speakers, costing between £70 and £90, rose 86 per cent to £94.8million in 2024 compared to the year before, but losses widened from £3.4m to £8.4million.
The firm says that it has benefited from ‘strong word of mouth’ recommendations.
