Super Eagles star Christantus Uche is close to completing a move to Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers after Getafe confirmed his departure.

According to reports, the 22-year-old Nigerian international will undergo medical tests on Wednesday before officially signing for Wolves.

Uche, who has impressed with his performances in LaLiga, is set to become Wolves’ latest signing as the club looks to strengthen their attack.

Getafe President Confirms Exit

Before Getafe’s last match, club president Ángel Torres told DAZN, as cited by Mundodeportivo, that financial regulations forced the club to let Uche leave.

“I’m forced to sell him, I have no other choice,” Torres said. “We know we have to sell. We’re not in favour of selling the best. I think we’re ruining LaLiga. They’re forcing us to sell. We’ve had to sell Alderete and now Uche, but the rule is the rule and we have to abide by it.”

Torres added that Getafe will look to reinvest once the Nigerian’s transfer is complete.

“We have 22 players in the squad. Let’s see what the coach says. We may need a centre-back, a winger, or a centre-forward. Once Uche’s medical is done and the deal is finalised, we’ll know what to do.”

The striker is expected to link up with Wolves immediately after completing his medical, with fans hopeful he could be available for selection as early as this weekend.
