Jatinder Singh set to lead Oman in their maiden Asia Cup campaign.

Oman on Tuesday named a 17-member squad for their first-ever Asia Cup appearance, with experienced opener Jatinder Singh set to captain the side.

The team includes four uncapped players — Sufyan Yousuf, Zikriya Islam, Faisal Shah, and Nadeem Khan — who are all in line to make their international debuts in what will be a historic tournament for Oman.

Head coach Duleep Mendis expressed his excitement about the milestone and highlighted the significance of competing against world-class teams.

“It is real that we are participating in the Asia Cup – a major tournament and a fantastic opportunity for our players to showcase their skills on a global stage,” Mendis said.

“Playing against teams like India and Pakistan is a moment to embrace for any cricketer. Anything can happen in a fast-paced T20 game, where one over of brilliance can change everything,” he added.

Mendis added that Oman’s preparations have been strong, pointing to the ongoing National T20 tournament and intense training sessions as key to building confidence and match readiness.

The Asia Cup 2025, featuring eight teams, will begin on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates. Oman have been drawn in Group A alongside cricket powerhouses India, Pakistan, and hosts UAE.

Oman will open their campaign against Pakistan on September 12, followed by fixtures against UAE on September 15 and India on September 19.
