German forward Leroy Sané scored his first goal for Galatasaray and praised new teammate Victor Osimhen as the Turkish champions cruised to a 4-0 victory over Kayserispor in the Süper Lig.
Sané, who joined from Bayern Munich this summer, sealed the win with a stoppage-time strike at the Kadir Has Stadium on Sunday night. But after the match, the former Manchester City winger reserved his words for Osimhen, who also found the net on his first start of the season.
Osimhen opened his account in the 86th minute, finishing calmly after Nicolò Zaniolo’s pass to make it 3-0. Earlier, Turkish defender Evren Eren Elmalı had scored twice before Sané’s late effort wrapped up a commanding display.
The goal was an important moment for Osimhen, who became Galatasaray’s record signing this summer after a permanent move from Napoli. The Nigerian striker had missed the opening game and only featured from the bench in the second, but marked his return to the starting line-up with a decisive strike.
Speaking after the match, Sané said Osimhen’s arrival gives Galatasaray two top-class forwards alongside Mauro Icardi.
“Victor also scored his first goal and is a very good player,” Sané told the club’s website. “We’re gaining momentum. We have very good strikers. They’re hungry to score, have incredible quality and experience. That’s great for the team.
“The Champions League is very important for the club. We want to be successful there. We must train hard, play well, and collect as many points as possible.”
Osimhen, 26, scored 37 goals and registered eight assists during his loan spell last season, helping Galatasaray win both the Süper Lig and Turkish Cup. Now signed permanently, he is expected to spearhead their attack again as the Yellow-Reds chase domestic and European success.
