Following on from a small leak the other week, which revealed Playground Games had been scanning Kei cars in Japan for an unnannounced sequel, there’s now compelling evidence which says they’ll be officially announcing Forza Horizon 6 very soon.

Windows Central claims that they’ve seen official internal documents discussing the fact that the game will be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, which makes total sense if the game’s setting is also Tokyo.

The typically reliable NateTheHate also confirmed the information in a reply to Window’s Central’s tweet, and added in a later reply that he has heard the game is aiming for an early 2026 release. This ties in with what Xbox head-honcho Phil Spencer teased a huge 2026 for the brand: “I’m excited to share that players will get to celebrate 25 years of Xbox with a new Fable, the next Forza, Gears of War: E-Day, and the return of a classic that’s been with us since the beginning.”

Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming has also backed up the claims of official documents floating around. He also stated on X that, “There’s one massively disgruntled employee at Xbox lol”. I assume he’s referring to the pissed off employee being the one leaking the documents.

However, Henderson’s words do give us a vital piece of information: this seems to be a singular source. As I’m sure you guys have already guessed, a singular source means it isn’t as reliable. This could just be one asshole making things up. However, between all the reliable people reporting on this source, there’s a very high likelihood that they’ve verified who this employee is, and if it is indeed a disgruntled Xbox employee, spewing fake information isn’t going to much – certainly not compared to throwing out real, accurate info which ruins Xbox’s big surprise.

It’s also worth noting that Insider Gaming’s article on the subject yesterday stated that “it’s important to take this information with a grain of salt until it’s either confirmed by Microsoft or independently verified by Insider Gaming.”

Henderson, though, seems to be indicating that they have verified it. Or, at least, he’s confirming the documents have been floating around.

Putting aside the leaks for a moment, it has been four years since the last Forza Horizon game, so it’s certainly the right time period for a 6th entry, especially since Forza Horizon 5 landed on PS5 earlier this year and did quite well for itself. Could we be looking at Forza Horizon 6 launching on PS5 and Switch 2?
