Recent accounts in The Hollywood Reporter outline how Paramount settled Donald Trump’s $20 billion lawsuit for $16 million over an allegedly deceptive 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris. Trump accused the interview of boosting his rival’s campaign while Paramount disregarded it as trivial and meaningless. This settlement came on the heels of the company’s merger with Skydance and the allegations of political interference. Skydance reportedly called the chatter of a side deal “unmitigated false bullsh–,” as reported by The New York Times.

Lawmakers, however, allege that Paramount and Skydance violated anti-bribery clauses in their agreements with the FCC. Meanwhile, a representative for the Writers Guild of America in a statement to CNBC lauded the launch of investigations into the merger, saying, “The public deserves transparency” on both Paramount and Skydance’s association with the Trump Administration to secure FCC approval. Both alleged settlements prove how the political titan remains closely tied to media powers while actively engaging in on-screen narratives. And Trump has long been at ease with the cameras.

From flashy to blink-and-miss roles, the President had already conquered cameos long before his political maneuvers drew attention.

Aside from the tension, Trump has been a widely discussed, coveted, or caricatured political figure in several iconic moments of television, including the Late Night talk show monologues, South Park‘s brutally hilarious jabs in multiple episodes, Family Guy‘s constant lampooning of the president, Spitting Image‘s puppet satire, etc.
