A controversial podcaster who grew a large audience discussing conspiracy theories has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend.

Tobias Nuttall, 32, appeared in the Midland Magistrates Court in Perth, Australia, on Friday following his arrest at his home in Bassendean on Wednesday. Police were called to the home following reports of a serious incident, and cops discovered a woman with stab wounds.

The victim, not yet named, was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital in a critical condition, but died a few hours later. University of Notre Dame graduate Nuttall was arrested as police swooped on his property on Thursday night, reports state.

He is accused of killing his partner, 30, who is understood to have worked in the sex industry. The man appeared in court this morning and did not speak, other than to confirm his name. He is due to face magistrates court on September 17.

Nuttall is the co-host of a conspiracy theorist podcast Waking World, where he discusses what he described as “occult, magick, spirituality, and clandestine.”

His British co-host on podcast Waking World released a solo episode on Friday. Dale confirmed his colleague’s charge and told listeners: “Why is Toby not going to be involved? It’s nothing to do with whether we’ve fallen out. It’s much worse than that.

“Toby has been charged, or is being charged today, with a very, very serious offence over in Perth, something that happened on Wednesday.”

“I know very little detail about it,” he continued, before adding: “I feel like I want to share something because it’s going to come out in the news.”

He went on to speak about the couple, who he said were both interested in ‘ritual and magic’. He went on to say: “They got engaged to each other, but we know from the conversation that we had with Ali (on the podcast), they’re both into practicing ritual and magic to affect outcomes.”

According to the podcast’s summary on Spotify, they offer a place “Where Reality Gets a Reality Check.”
