Torrential rains across Sindh, particularly in Karachi, severely disrupted telecommunications, leaving thousands of mobile phone users without service.

Sources in the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) told ProPakistani that nearly 2,500 telecom towers were knocked offline due to the storm.

PTA teams immediately launched restoration efforts, managing to bring 1,800 towers back online within 24 hours. Mobile phone and internet services in most parts of Karachi have already been restored, officials confirmed.

The outages occurred primarily due to power failures and hardware damage caused by the downpour. PTA has directed local authorities to ensure a timely power supply to telecom tower sites to prevent prolonged disruptions.

“PTA teams are still working on remaining towers to fully restore service across Sindh,” the sources added, noting that the regulator is in constant coordination with local administrations to expedite recovery efforts.
