Governor Umo Eno has approved new management boards for Akwa United Football Club and Ibom Angels Football Club, appointing Mr. Joseph Eno and Prince Ukeme Ukpong as chairmen of the two clubs.
The Governor also directed the immediate return of Akwa United to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), stressing that a club of their standard should not be playing in the lower division. He promised to give the team full support to ensure their quick return to the top flight.
Akwa United Board
Mr. Joseph Eno, an Accounting graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, is the new chairman of Akwa United. He retired voluntarily from Total Energies after 20 years of service as a Contract and Procurement Manager in Port Harcourt. A passionate football lover, Eno has captained school, university and corporate football teams to success, and is currently a BOT member of Firm Minds Sporting All Stars International FC, Uyo.
He will be assisted by Pastor Ini Edoho (Vice Chairman), Mr. Jimmy Joshua (General Manager), and Elder Omon Bassey (Secretary). Other officials include Mr. Festus Akpan (Team Manager), Mr. Mfon Patrick (Media Manager) and his assistant, Mr. NsikakAbasi Akpan.
In a related development, Akwa United has appointed Coach Paul Offor as Head Coach. The former Sporting Lagos manager, who guided the club to NPFL promotion in 2023/24, is already in Uyo preparing the Promise Keepers for the 2025/26 season. He will be supported by coaches Tosin Adekugbe, Okechukwu Promise, Bassey Akpan and Akarandut Orok.
Ibom Angels Board
For Ibom Angels, Prince Ukeme Ukpong has been named chairman. Widely regarded as the biggest supporter of female football in Akwa Ibom State, Ukpong has promoted grassroots development through the Prince Ukeme Ukpong Unity Cup for over a decade. He holds a degree in Business Administration and is founder of the Prince Ukeme Ukpong Mega Foundation.
Other members of the Ibom Angels board include Elder John Udo (Secretary), Mr. Cyril Orok (Assistant Secretary), Hon. Ndah Ndah (Team Co-ordinator), Coach Mary Udobia (Team Manager), Mr. Dennis Thadeus (Welfare Officer), Mr. Edidiong Stephen (Media Manager) with Mr. Ini Akang as his assistant, and Uduak Freddie as Camp Commandant.
