More visitors are coming to the Sunshine State.
Florida hit a record with the number of visitors — 34.4 million — traveling to the Sunshine State in the second quarter of 2025.
From April to June, about 31.5 million tourists were Americans traveling domestically while about 2.3 million came from abroad and another 640,000 from Canada, the state announced in a press release.
The previous second-quarter record dated back to 2024 when 34.2 million visited Florida.
“Florida continues to lead the way as the nation’s top travel destination,” Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a statement to celebrate the achievement and get some of his political messaging in, too. “People from all over the world come to the Free State of Florida to take advantage of our top-tier attractions, great weather, and our commitment to public safety. Today’s record numbers are a testament to the work we’ve done to make Florida the most appealing state to visit in the nation.”
Overseas visitors jumped by 11.4% year-over-year.
To handle the record-breaking crowds, Florida’s 19 commercial airports said they had nearly 29 million total enplanements and occupancy at Florida hotels jumped by about 1%.
“We are committed to keeping Florida the destination of choice for visitors from across the country and around the world as we promote our world-class amenities, unique natural and historical sites, and family-oriented opportunities,” said Bryan Griffin, President and CEO of VISIT FLORIDA who started his new post last month after working in the Governor’s press office.
The second quarter brought some Spring Breakers to the beach and theme park fans to see the new Epic Universe in Orlando.
Universal Orlando’s third theme park gate officially opened May 22 as crowds arrived to see the lands devoted to Harry Potter, How to Train Your Dragon and other popular IPs.
All three of Orlando’s major theme park companies — Disney World, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando — reported strong attendance during their earnings calls in recent weeks.
