The AfriSportPro Youth League officially kicked off on Monday, 18 August 2025, at the Uyo Township Stadium with exciting matches and impressive performances.
Willnam-Pro FC opened the campaign with a 2-0 win over Artisan FA. Victor Gilbert and Ekemini Mfon got the goals, with Gilbert voted Player of the Match.
In the second fixture, Blackpool FA also started strong, defeating VIFA Academy 2-0. Hope Jacob scored in the 7th minute before Orji Ginika doubled the lead in the 19th minute. Ginika’s commanding display earned him the Player of the Match award.
The final match of the day saw Blessed Stars come from behind to beat Pillar Sports FA 3-1. Godfrey Ekpo gave Pillar Sports an early lead, but goals from Utibe Okon, Usman Yusuf and Emmanuel Nwaeze turned the game around. Nwaeze was named Player of the Match.
The colourful opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, Mr Samuel Umoh, who praised the organisers for bringing the league to Akwa Ibom. He encouraged players to show discipline and sportsmanship as they showcase their talents.
The Uyo Conference will run until November 2025 with twelve teams: Artisan FA, Willnam-Pro FC, VIFA Academy, Blackpool FA, Blessed Stars, Pillar Sports FA, Nichin FA, Blessed Talent FC, De Ark Academy, Immortality FC, Full Life Academy and Krane FC.
Matches continue on Tuesday, 19 August, with Nichin FA facing Blessed Talent FC, De Ark Academy playing Immortality FC, and Full Life Academy taking on Krane FC.
According to the organisers, the AfriSportPro Youth League aims to discover and promote young footballers by connecting them with scouts, talent managers and international clubs, with the vision of building a world-class youth football league across Africa.
