Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is set to play for a new club for the first time in eight years. He is expected to make his debut for Besiktas on Sunday when they face Eyupspor in their opening game of the Turkish Super Lig season.

Ndidi joined Leicester City in 2017 from Belgian side Gent. At the time, Leicester were still looking to replace N’Golo Kante, who had left for Chelsea. Ndidi quickly became a key player in the defensive midfield position and was one of the team’s most consistent performers, even with some injury setbacks.

During his time at Leicester, the club went through ups and downs, moving between the Premier League and the Championship. After being relegated again last season, Ndidi decided it was time to move on.

Although he was linked with several clubs in England and abroad, the Nigerian international chose to join Turkish giants Besiktas. His transfer was completed last week, but he couldn’t play in their UEFA Conference League qualifiers against St. Patrick’s due to timing.

Now, Turkish outlet Ajanshaber1903 reports that Ndidi is fit and ready to play in Sunday’s league opener. He took part in pre-season with Leicester before his transfer, so he is fully match-fit and may even start the game.

How Ndidi Can Help Besiktas

Besiktas, now coached by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, have had problems in defence, often conceding unnecessary goals. Ndidi’s arrival could help fix that.

He is known for his strong tackling, high work rate, and ability to win the ball in midfield. With Ndidi in the team, Besiktas should become stronger defensively and could also benefit from his ability to score the occasional goal.

His presence may give the team a better chance at challenging for the Turkish league title this season.
