Call Me Wonderful
The single will appear on the British singer-songwriter’s upcoming studio album The Art of Loving, out Sept. 26
On her latest single “Man I Need,” Olivia Dean admits, “I kinda like it when you call me wonderful.” In the accompanying Jake Erland-directed video, the magnetic British singer-songwriter effortlessly earns her praise. On a filming lot, she mingles with seven prospects who do their best to impress her and land the role of the man she needs.
“‘Man I Need” is a song about knowing how you deserve to be loved and not being afraid to ask for it,” Dean shared in a statement. “It’s forward, sexy, fun! It’s made for dancing!” The flirtatious record is the third release from her upcoming studio album The Art of Loving, out Sept. 26.
“I’d like to think you feel the same way/But I can’t tell with you sometimes/So baby lets get on the same page/Stop making me read between the lines,” Dean sings. “Already know I can’t leave it alone/You’re on my mind/Already gave you the time and the place/So don’t be shy/Just come be the man I need.”
Earlier this week, Dean revealed the track list for The Art of Loving, her first full-length LP since sharing her debut album Messy in June 2023. The 12-track record includes previously released singles “Nice to Each Other” and “Lady Lady.”
“We made most of this album in a studio we built in a house in East London,” she wrote on Instagram. “For 8 weeks we lived in the house of loving! I brought my piano from home and all my favourite people and tried to create things that felt like warmth. Here you have a piece of my heart!”
