- Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Wednesday season 2 part 2
- It confirms this season’s next episode will address its forebear’s cliff-hanger ending
- Season 2’s final four episodes will be released in early September
A week has passed (at the time of writing) since Wednesday season 2 part 1 was released and left us mulling over its cliff-hanger ending.
Now, Netflix has released the official trailer for this season’s second volume – and it confirms season 2’s next episode will immediately address what happened to the titular character after part 1’s final entry. Full spoilers immediately follow for Wednesday season 1 and season 2 part 1.

Watch On
Released today (August 14), Wednesday season 2’s latest teaser reveals Jenna Ortega’s eponymous heroine isn’t dead. Nobody expected she had perished after her life-threatening reunion with Tyler in this season’s fourth chapter. Nonetheless, it’s good to see that Netflix won’t drag out this reveal for any length of time.
What is a surprise, though, is the return of a fan-favorite character from Wednesday‘s first season. Larissa Weems, Nevermore Academy’s former principal, is back!
Well, not from the dead. Weems, who’ll be played by Gwendoline Christie once more, was murdered by Christina Ricci’s Laurel Gates in last season’s seventh episode. However, as co-showrunner Alfred Gough told Tudum.com: “Nobody in our world is truly dead dead”, so maybe we should’ve expected her to return.”
So, how is Weems alive and well in some form, anyway? Long story short: Weems is Wednesday’s new spirit guide. Essentially, she’s replacing Goody Addams, one of Wednesday’s distant relatives who performed a similar role in one of the best Netflix shows’ debut season.
Judging by the other glimpses we see in season 2 part 2’s trailer, Wednesday and Weems’ new and certainly uneasy dynamic is going to play a pretty important role over the next four episodes. Admittedly, it’s unclear how Weems will actually help Wednesday to put an end to Tyler’s plan – i.e. to kill him and Wednesday’s bestie Enid Sinclair, whose death was put front and center of Wednesday season 2 part 1’s trailer and story. But, hey, Wednesday will need all of the help she can get.
There’s plenty more that volume 2’s trailer teases. From a predictably spooky Halloween party and another Wednesday-Uncle Fester team-up, to more Addams Family secrets potentially being revealed in typically shocking fashion and Wednesday’s attempts to stop Tyler once and for all, fans won’t want to miss the second half of this season when it’s finally released on the world’s best streaming service.
When will that be? I’m glad you asked. Wednesday season 2 part 2 will arrive in full on Wednesday, September 3. Make sure you’ve booked the day off work – or, if you’re on your school holidays, grab your favorite seat on the couch early – to watch all four episodes as soon as they drop.
This isn’t the end of the line for Wednesday, either. With over 100 million views – and counting! – spread across its two seasons to date, Netflix’s decision to renew Wednesday for a third season was the least shocking news of the year so far. Let’s hope season 2 volume 2’s finale sets up more spooky and kooky events to come in future installments.
