
The 78th Pakistan Independence Day 2025 observed across the country today with official ceremonies, national flag hoisting, and special prayers for the country’s unity, peace, and prosperity.
The day began with ceremonial gun salutes in federal and provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered after Fajr for the nation’s progress and security.
In Karachi, a change of guards ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, where Pakistan Navy cadets took over ceremonial duties. Four female cadets were also part of the contingent. In Lahore, a similar ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal, where Punjab Rangers handed over duties to the Pakistan Army.
Main cities such as Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta and Multan experienced flag hoisting, road decoration and celebration of people on roads. Across the country, government buildings and other public places were lit up and there were fireworks in the evening.
On Pakistan Independence Day 2025, a resolution was passed in the National Assembly in order to offer tribute to national sacrifices to achieve independence and uphold the national sovereignty.
The United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, congratulated Pakistan on its Independence Day noting that U.S and Pakistan collaborate on counter terrorism, trade and the possibility of joint economic cooperation in areas such as critical minerals, hydrocarbons and the development of business.
