The 14 August celebrations in Karachi saw three individuals, including an eight-year-old girl and a senior citizen, killed and over 75 others injured in various attempts of aerial firing that took place throughout the city. More than 20 suspects have been arrested and the weapons and ammunition recovered by police.

According to rescue sources, the injured were shifted to Civil Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, and private hospitals in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Victims included 46 men, 22 women, and six children.

Aerial firing incidents were reported from Liaquatabad, Korangi, Lyari, Mehmoodabad, Akhtar Colony, Keamari, Jackson, Baldia, Orangi Town, Paposh Nagar, Sharifabad, North Nazimabad, Surjani Town, Zaman Town, Landhi, Azizabad, Gulberg, and Machar Colony.

Police operations in Mominabad, Liaquatabad, Paposh Nagar, Samanabad, Orangi Town, and Keamari led to the arrests. FIRs have been registered against the suspects, and seized weapons include modern firearms and live rounds.

Authorities said the aerial firing during the 14 August celebrations in Karachi posed serious risks to public safety. They urged citizens to avoid celebratory gunfire and cooperate with law enforcement.

In 2024, the same Independence Day events hurt over about 95 people in Karachi. In January 2025, there were aerial firing incidents in the city, which resulted in the death of 42 people, and more than 230 people were injured.
