A mum has confessed to allegedly murdering and dismembering her son after he “physically abused” his wife.

Lorena Venier, 61, admitted to police that she and Mailyn Monsalvo, 30, had helped murder her son Alessandro, 35, at their home in Italy. It is claimed Mailyn suffered from physical abuse in their marriage, according to authorities.

Alessandro’s body was found dismembered in the basement of their home on July 25, which he shared with his wife and six-month-old daughter. The 61-year-old confessed “I took care of Alessandro’s dismemberment myself” during a court appearance.

The mum and daughter-in-law had been planning the alleged killing for months after Alessandro was accused of physically abusing his wife. It comes after a woman is accused of using her children to try to trigger a severe allergic reaction in her ex-mother-in-law, according to authorities.

“Mailyn had been asking me to kill my son Alessandro for months, ever since the day their daughter was born in January,” Lorena said, according to L’Unione Sarda.

“Mailyn was violently beaten, insulted and repeatedly threatened with death… My son downplayed her postpartum depression, and when I decided to report it, he punched me in the back,” she claimed.

Allesandro had discussed moving to Colombia, where his wife is from, with their baby but Lorena, a nurse, was worried about the potential harm he could cause.

She claimed she felt she had no choice other than to kill her son when he began talking about moving to Colombia with the family.

She told a hearing on August 2: “Mailyn is the daughter that I never had. Mailyn was being beaten up, insulted and threatened many times with death. My son downplayed the postnatal depression she was suffering from. Alessandro was violent, and Mailyn’s life was in danger.

“I could not have allowed them to go to Colombia, Mailyn and the baby would have run very serious risks there. The only way to stop him was to kill him.”

According to local reports, Alessandro had also allegedly threatened to drown his wife in a Colombian River.

During the alleged killing, Alessandro’s mum and wife allegedly handed him a glass of glass of tranquiliser-spiked lemonade and gave him two shots of insulin from the hospital where Lorena worked to try and kill him, according to officials.

However, Allesandro was alive after the heavy dose of insulin. He was then suffocated and strangled.

Mum Lorena says she then took to dismembering her son’s body, and told police: “I took care of the dismemberment myself. I used a hacksaw and a sheet to hold the blood. I dissected him into three pieces.”

Lorena has been charged with murder and concealing a body. Mailyn is suspected of instigation to murder.
