A man whose dispute with a neighbour ended up in court says the neighbour is now ‘leaving everybody alone’ after a row over a truck parked in the wrong driveway resulted in a call to police. The man says the neighbour was well known to the authorities after a number of complaints about loud music – but it was the neighbour who called police when his truck was covered in dirt.

The situation escalated when the complained-about man parked his truck on the homeowner’s drive. That ended up in the truck being covered in mud when the homeowner mowed his lawn next to it – and police were called.

Taking to Quora, the man said: “My neighbour on one side is a true Ken. He likes to play his raunchy, sexually explicit music loud enough for neighbours within a half mile to hear it plainly. Numerous calls to law enforcement have happened and he has been harassed by the police many times.

“He thought he could take it out on me by parking his pickup truck on my lawn. Another visit from law enforcement was the result. Since he moved it to the edge of the curb and left it there so I had to find a different place to park (he had a space in his driveway), several days later, I had to mow my lawn. I don’t have a zero turn mower so, I did the best that I could and mowed my dirt lawn which covered his truck with dust.

“He called the cops to complain. They came, talked to him and came over to find out my side of what happened. I asked if it was illegal to mow my lawn. The officer asked me if we were having problems with the neighbour, to which I stated, how many times has there been a complaint against him and how many times has your department sent an officer to his house? The officer explained to me to take him to court for harassment. The officer went back to him and was basically told to move his truck if he didn’t want that to happen.

“I took him to court to get a restraining order against him.”

The home owner says the court came down on his side, adding: “The judge told both of us, I have an excellent case against him. While in court, the court documented that I had complaints about his drug use, many incidents of him harassing the neighbourhood.”

While the neighbour faced no arrest or court action, the homeowner says he has learned his lesson, adding ” I guess he finally found out that he was breaking the law and was lucky to not get arrested for it. He’s now leaving everybody alone.”
