The trend was started by TikToker @actuallyhamilt0n on July 22nd, 2025, garnering viral spread throughout August of that year. That month, Lin Manuel Miranda, creator of Hamilton, participated in the trend.

On July 22nd, 2025, TikToker @actuallyhamilt0n posted a video set to “Best of Wives and Best of Women” from Hamilton in which they play Alexander Hamilton trying to sneak out a window as the song plays. The song features a back-and-forth between Alexander and his wife Eliza, in which he tries to leave and she keeps telling him to come back to bed. The video gained over 9.8 million views in three weeks.
