The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has gifted 35 motorcycles and ₦17.5 million to players of Barau Football Club in celebration of their promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/2026 season.
Barau FC Media Officer, Ahmad Hamisu Gwale, said the Senator also unveiled the club’s new Technical Adviser, Isah Ladan Bosso, ahead of their debut NPFL campaign.
Senator Barau hosted the club’s management, officials, coaches, and players on Monday, 11 August 2025, in Kano, to honour their achievement.
The Maliya Boys recently secured promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the NPFL for the first time in their history.
Addressing the team, Senator Barau urged them to remain dedicated, disciplined, and hardworking in their quest to win the NPFL trophy. He expressed confidence that with the quality of players in the squad, the club could secure a CAF continental ticket next season.
He added that the club had strengthened its squad with new signings from various clubs, boosting their chances of success in the top flight.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Deputy Senate President on Youths and Sports, Comrade Kabiru Ado Lakwaya, praised Senator Barau’s commitment to youth development, saying his efforts would be remembered in history.
Club President Shawall Barau Jibrin and Chairman Ambassador Ibrahim Shitu Chanji also thanked the Senator for his consistent support.
Speaking on behalf of the players, Usman Maidubji expressed their gratitude, acknowledging the Senator’s positive role in promoting Nigerian youth development.
