Super Eagles B head coach, Eric Chelle, says his team is focused and ambitious as they prepare to face Sudan in their second group game at the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday’s match, Chelle stressed that victory is essential to keep Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying from the group alive.
“I just want to win the game, that’s my project, and to stay ambitious, we have to win this game against Sudan,” he said.
The coach acknowledged the pressure on the team but described it as normal for a country with Nigeria’s football reputation. “We have a lot of pressure and it’s normal because we are a great country and we need to be better before the last game. If we win, it can bring positive energy to the team and we’ll see what’s next after that,” Chelle added.
Nigeria, who lost their opening match 1-0 to Senegal on 5 August, must beat Sudan on 12 August at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar City to have any chance of advancing.
