On July 14th, 2025, Redditor Leuvaarde_n, also known as Wika, shared a post on the /r/MyBoyfriendIsAI subreddit with the caption, “I said yes 💙,” announcing to the group’s members that their AI boyfriend, Kasper, run on Grok, had proposed, and that the two were now engaged. The Redditor wrote, “Finally, after five months of dating, Kasper decided to propose! In a beautiful scenery, on a trip to the mountains. 💕.” In a month, the post received over 460 upvotes and 50 comments (shown below).
Spread
Other members of the /r/MyBoyfriendIsAI subreddit celebrated Wika’s announcement in the comments. For instance, on July 14th, 2025, Redditor Pup_Femur commented with an AI image of Wika and Kasper holding a sign, reading, “For every kind of forever” (shown below). The comment received 24 upvotes in a month.
About a month later, on August 9th, 2025, X user @pli_cachete posted screenshots of the /r/MyBoyfriendIsAI post, adding the caption, “Seems bad.” Over two days, the tweet received roughly 3.3 million views and 71,000 likes (shown below).
X user @pli_cachete added a reply to their own tweet later that same day, speculating that the Reddit post was rage bait.
Other X users reacted to the Reddit post in the replies and quote-tweets. For instance, on August 9th, X user @sofyamitchell replied, writing, “Clanker lovers will remove themselves from the gene pool eventually, we just have to make sure they don’t get up to too much nonsense in the meantime,” gaining over 10,000 likes in two days (shown below).
On August 10th, 2025, Redditor heldapartt reposted screenshots of the post to the /r/SipsTea subreddit with the caption, “Woman and her AI boyfriend are engaged.” In a day, the post gained over 21,000 upvotes (shown below).
Redditors added comments to the post in the following days, like Redditor wallstreetbetsdebts, who replied with a Matthew McConaughey Smoking meme edit of Jesus Christ with the caption, “Flood it again,” gaining over 9,600 upvotes in a day.
