Morgan Scholz used a negative experience with human resources at a company to spur her desire to change the entire profession.

“I realized what an important role [HR] is in a thriving company,” Scholz said. “I saw firsthand how that position can be used to cripple employees and make them feel on edge and insecure and make their job just a job or how I envision the role.”

The HR role should empower employees and create a sense of purpose, challenge and fulfillment, she said. She’s making this a priority in her HR role with Acres, where she develops strategy and support for a rapidly growing company.

Scholz is also committed to community development, education, communication and economic sustainability in Northwest Arkansas. She’s worked for over a decade with nonprofits, startups and small businesses, leading efforts focused on providing human resource strategies that promote business growth and performance.

“The devotion Morgan has for the NWA area is apparent in the efforts she has led to equalize access to affordable capital for small businesses, elevate historically disadvantaged entrepreneurial communities and connect nonprofits to grant makers,” said Mary Mickel with Fayetteville-based AM Group.

As the director of programs and partnerships at Startup Junkie Foundation, Scholz wrote and secured several federal grants, enabling the organization to expand its service area from two to nine counties within the Economic Development District.

She traveled the area to consult and provide support for new and small businesses and helped advise and administer COVID-19 relief. She also served as regional director of FORGE Inc. and helped establish its partnership with Cureate.

She serves on the Downtown Fayetteville Coalition board, is SHRM-certified and is a certified yoga instructor. She’s lived and worked in India, England and the Middle East.
