Happenstance led Kyle Reynolds into the oil and gas industry.

The Sheridan native was in law school at the University of Arkansas when Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy Corp. recruited him for a summer internship.

“I just fell in love with the fast-paced nature of that business,” Reynolds said. “In the business world you’ve got to … understand risk and be able to make decisions. I really like that piece of the energy business.”

He earned his law degree from the UA in 2011 after graduating from the University of Central Arkansas. After law school, he was a landman at Chesapeake Energy before becoming land manager for Birmingham, Ala.-based Energen Resources Corp.

After the company sold for over $10 billion in 2018, he and a partner formed RBG Permian, a Midland, Texas-based acquisition and management firm. He returned to Northwest Arkansas in early 2019.

As managing member, Reynolds leads high-value transactions, builds strategic partnerships and develops training initiatives. His experience in negotiations and deal structuring has contributed to over $15 billion in acquisitions, divestitures, and mergers throughout his career.

Reynolds also co-founded real estate investment firm Greenway Capital Partners, focusing on investments along the Razorback Greenway. He’s an of counsel for Bryant & Moore PLLC in Searcy.

A career highlight has been working with others and mentoring them, as he had good mentors early in his career. In the coming years, he looks to hire staff and hand over day-to-day operations to the next generation.

Reynolds was recently named president of the American Association of Professional Landmen, which is affiliated with multiple charitable organizations including NAPE Charities Fund. He also supports Compassion 479 and Feed 479 in Springdale. An Arkansas Razorbacks fan, he writes for “The Pig Sty” and enjoys cooking.
