Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who is eligible to play for the Super Eagles, has expressed his happiness after helping the Blues beat Victor Boniface’s Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 in a pre-season match at Stamford Bridge.
The Nigerian-descent centre-back returned to action after a spell on the sidelines, playing as Enzo Maresca’s side produced a strong performance. Goals from Brazilian duo Estêvão and João Pedro sealed the victory, giving Chelsea a confident start to their summer preparations.
Writing on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Adarabioyo said: “Back on the pitch, back with the fans, and back chasing wins.”
Estêvão opened the scoring in the first 20 minutes, reacting quickly to a rebound to score on his debut. Leverkusen pushed for an equaliser but rarely troubled Chelsea’s defence. In the closing stages, João Pedro doubled the lead with a calm finish after being played through on goal.
Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface came on in the 72nd minute for Leverkusen but had a quiet game, managing just one shot as his team struggled to create clear chances. He will now focus on making a bigger impact when Erik ten Hag’s side begin their 2025–26 campaign.
