About
War of the Worlds refers to a 2025 sci-fi film starring rapper and actor Ice Cube, which was released on Amazon Prime Video on July 30th, 2025. The movie is based on the 1898 H.G. Wells novel The War of the Worlds. It follows Will Radford (played by Ice Cube), a computer security analyst working for the U.S. government, who finds his daily life disrupted by an alien attack. The film received a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes and was widely regarded as one of the worst movies of 2025, as expressed in viral memes, tweets and internet discourse. Many centered their posts and criticism on a scene in which Amazon product placement becomes a central plot point in saving the characters. Notably, the actor playing the Amazon deliveryman was Devon Bostick, known for his role as Rodrick Heffley in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise.

War of the Worlds (2025) is the worst adaption of the source material to date. It had no ideas beyond the found footage approach, and even then the film is struggling to find ways to present coherent scenes. Ice Cube is so lost. Maybe one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. pic.twitter.com/jnQbGRy9Kp
