Harding University has received a $1 million gift from a private donor.

Part of it will be used to start a one-hour credit course, Bitcoin, Monetary History and the Financial Frontier to be taught by university alumnus and Blockworks content director, Bennett Holloway.

Course curriculum includes Bitcoin’s novel design principles and ideology as well as discussions about how it’s shaping the trajectory of financial infrastructure.

“It’s difficult to overstate the speed and complexity of technological change in today’s marketplace,” Holloway said. “A solid understanding of the core technologies driving innovation and the historical forces behind them will equip students to keep pace and excel in the modern workforce.”

The donation will also help fund an Artificial Intelligence major.

This course in the College of Business Administration parallels a new AI major in the department of computer science slated to begin this fall.

Students who choose this major will learn how to design and create AI tools and consider how AI can be used ethically to benefit others.
