Between 150 and 200 people are expected to attend the second annual Violence Prevention Conference of Mid-America from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 22 at NorthWest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville.
Rogers-based SafeHaven Security Group will host the conference to explore strategies for preventing violence and safeguarding personnel. It will include keynotes, panels, workshops and peer learning experiences. It’s geared for security professionals, human resources executives, legal counsel, health care administrators and operations leaders.
Following are conference highlights:
• Sessions on preventing workplace violence, surviving danger and how to keep people safe.
• Case studies and best practices shared by behavioral threat specialists, mental health professionals, former law enforcement and corporate security leaders.
Speakers include Tim Keck, who’ll focus on how to recognize and act on early warning signs of violence; Gene Page, who’ll guide attendees through techniques to build personal resilience and lead effectively under stress; James Atchley, who’ll offer actions organizations can take to implement or improve their violence prevention programs; and David Lengefeld, who’ll navigate the role of mental health in violence.
Registration is $148 for the conference and a de-escalation training class from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 21 at NWACC. The class, taught by Keck, is designed to equip people with the tools to defuse a conflict before it explodes.
