Enyimba head coach Stanley Eguma has made it clear that he is aiming to win the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title in the 2025/26 season — or at the very least, secure a continental ticket.
Eguma, who joined Enyimba midway through last season when the team was in 11th place, guided them to a respectable sixth-place finish. However, he insists that a club like Enyimba must aim higher.
“Enyimba, as a team, has a target — and as an ambitious coach, I also have a target,” Eguma said. “My target is to win the league or qualify for continental football, at the very least.”
Eguma is no stranger to success in the NPFL. He led Rivers United to their first-ever league title and was part of Enyimba’s backroom staff when the club retained the CAF Champions League in 2004.
“Having achieved those things in the past, I now want to go beyond that,” he added. “That is also what Enyimba is aiming for. Before the management gives me a target, I already set one for myself because I am ambitious and believe I have much to offer.”
Eguma’s statement sends a strong message to current champions Remo Stars and other title contenders that Enyimba is back with serious intent.
The former Dolphins boss is confident his ambitions align perfectly with the club’s high standards. Enyimba will begin their new season against newly-promoted Barau FC of Kano
